YUKEN TERUYA: CUTTING TREES EXHIBITION
New York and Berlin based artist Yuken Teruya transforms discarded everyday items such as shoe boxes, newspapers, fast food packages, and commercial shopping bags into intricate sculptures of real trees that he photographed in London, New York, Japan and Berlin. He creates these sculptures by meticulously cutting out the tree from the top of the paper bag. Teruya’s work combines his interests in Japanese art and design, creating spaces to imagine and dream as well as consumerism and environmental degradation.
